AUSTIN, Texas, January 18. THOUGH the bulk of attention in the women’s 400 free final at the Arena Grand Prix stop in Austin was on Katie Ledecky, 13-year-old Madison Homovich of North Carolina Aquatics raised some eyebrows with an impressive swim in the big final.

Homovich talked with Swimming World about her swim and what it felt like to race swimmers she’s admired, such as Ledecky. She also discussed why she was able to make such a major time drop in her 400 free, which makes her excited for the 800 free later in the meet.
