MESA, Arizona, April 26. AFTER completing her 800 freestyle race at the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa, Ariz., Katie Ledecky spoke about her race and wasn’t too surprised that she was under her world record pace for the first 300 meters.

Ledecky said she didn’t approach her race any differently because Lotte Friis, her challenger at last year’s world championships, was in the race. She also talked about dealing with the headwind and tailwind during the race, and how it affected her stroke.
