ORLANDO, Florida, March 20. ONE of the top swimmers in this week’s NCSA short course junior nationals is Gunnar Bentz of Dynamo Swim Club, who will compete in tonight’s finals of the 400 IM and 50 fly. It’s likely he’s the only swimmer at the meet who is unshaved and unrested, a fact that doesn’t faze the junior world champion.

In this video interview, Bentz talks about the decision to not shave for the meet, saying he didn’t want to jeopardize his chance to put in fast swims this August at the USA Swimming nationals. Bentz also talks about training with a long course focus at Dynamo and how much 50-meter pool time the team gets.
