Stanford’s women are in position to clinch a Pac-12 championship Saturday, but before the team headed off to bed Friday night, head coach Greg Meehan took a few minutes to speak with Swimming World about his team’s record-breaking performances.

Meehan gave his thoughts on Katie Ledecky’s come-from-behind American record in the women’s 400 IM, and he explained why he decided to have her swim two races Friday and skip the 1650 on Saturday. He also explained his reaction to Ally Howe’s American record in the 100 back and what it meant to him from a historical perspective, and finally, he gave perspective on the underrated contributions Howe and Janet Hu make for his team.
