IRVINE, California, August 9. NATION’S Capital Swim Club head coach Bruce Gemmell spoke with the media after seeing his star swimmer, Katie Ledecky, beat the world record in the 400 freestyle at the USA Swimming nationals.

Gemmell said there was not much discussion between him and Ledecky about what needed to be done in tonight’s swim, given that the pacing in warm-up looked like she was on target for a good swim. He also talked about the ease of beginning to work with Ledecky in October 2012 and how the swim team and Ledecky’s family helped with the transition.
