IRVINE, California, August 8. BOTH Michael Phelps and his coach, Bob Bowman, agree that more work needs to be done before the Pan Pacific championships, and we bring you the video interviews both conducted with the media after the final of the 100 butterfly at the USA Swimming championships.

Bowman stopped by the mixed zone first, and said Phelps’ time off from the sport was a factor in not doing many things right in the race, from his turn to execution in the final meters of the race. Bowman also said he believed Phelps was more nervous for this race than he has been since the 2000 Olympic Trials, because a berth on the international roster was not as easy to secure as before.
