VIDEO INCLUDED Arizona Men Rewrite American Record Book at US Nationals

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 3. ARIZONA came to race in Texas. Two Arizona men re-wrote the American Records books at the Austin Short Course Winter Nationals. Kevin Cordes, a sophomore at the University of Arizona, and Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers, representing Arizona-based Tucson Ford, took home three American Records between the two of them over the weekend.

On the second night of finals, Cordes cinched his first American Record in the men's 100 breaststroke, right next to it's previous owner, Mike Alexandrov. The 51.10 clocked by Cordes took several tenths off of the 51.35 posted by Alexandrov in 2010.

Not to be outdone, Grevers made his own mark in the American Record books several races later, in the men's 100 backstroke. Grevers toppled Ryan Lochte's American and U.S. Open record of 44.60 from 2006, with a 44.55.

Swimming World catches Grevers after the race, to talk about Grever's first American Record. Guest appearance by Ricky Berens, who nearly claimed his own American Record in the 200 freestyle earlier in the night.

On the last night of finals, Cordes once again displayed his breaststroke dominance. He became the first man under the 1:51 mark (1:50.73), laying claim on an American Record.
