GOLD COAST, Australia, August 21. WITH only two spots available for each country in the championship final, competition is tough within most countries at the Pan Pacific championships, and that was exemplified in the men’s 100 backstroke.
Swimming World’s Jeff Commings caught up with Matt Grevers, David Plummer and Ryan Murphy after they each raced in the 100 back prelims today. Each of them talked about the pressure of performing well in prelims to secure a place in the A final. Grevers also discussed the issue of the high winds present during his race and how it affected his turn at 50 meters.
