Vermont Announces Recruiting Class

BURLINGTON, Vermont, May 5. UNIVERSITY of Vermont swimming and diving head coach Gerry Cournoyer has announced that 14 freshmen will join the Catamounts this fall as part of the class of 2013.

The newcomers next season will include: Karole-Ann Bayer (Richmond, Va.), Jessica Donahue (Washington, D.C.), Haley Falkenberry (East Greenwich, R.I.), Erin Fay (Sidney, Maine), Jenna Gallo (Hightstown, N.J.), Kailey Gardner (Ithaca, N.Y.), Emily Healy (Summit, N.J.), Chelsea Krisanda (Webster, N.Y.), Abby Mundt (Madison, Wis.), Claire Musser (Kennett Square, Pa.), Nicole Peruso (Bradford, Conn.), Kerry Silva (Seekonk, Mass.), and divers Susannah Gruner (Kingston, N.Y.) and Melissa Wheeler (Roanoke, Va.).

“I am very pleased with the quality, diversity and depth of this incoming freshmen class,” said Cournoyer. “This class will have an immediate impact with the program as we look to continue to improve on last year’s success.”

The Catamounts had their best finish in school history at the America East Championship this past season, with three individual champions and one relay championship, as well as breaking nearly every school record. Vermont finished the year 9-4-1 overall and 4-1 against league opponents.
