Vanderbilt Begins Season Friday After 15-year Hiatus

NASHVILLE, Tennessee, November 15. THE 2006-07 Vanderbilt swim team will begin winter competition this Friday at the Western Kentucky Invitational in Bowling Green, Ky.

The 2006 swim team is the first Vanderbilt team since 1990, when the university was forced to drop the team due to inadequate facilities.

The roster of non-scholarship athletes will compete in the preliminaries beginning Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Finals will begin 6:30 p.m. each night with Sunday start times at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Head Coach Jeremy Organ plans to use the meet as a learning experience for his fledgling team.

"It's really just about getting them acclimated to competitive collegiate meets," Organ said. "Hopefully their experiences at Western will help them pinpoint things to work on in practice."
