PROVO, Utah, February 4. THE high school state championship series continued this weekend starting with the Utah 3A State Championships.

Team Scores
The Park City women disrupted a dynasty by taking second in the meet's final event, edging out the five-time defending 3A champions, Judge Memorial, by a final score of 413.5-408.5. Logan placed third with 340 points.

Ogden topped the men's meet, tallying 339 points throughout the two-day meet. Wasatch scored 317.5 points and placed second while Logan came in third (243.5).

Women's Individual Results
Logan claimed two of the three relay events with the help of its star
swimmer, Erin Pabst. Pabst, Kassie Finlinson, MacKenzie Anderson and Janessa Gammill started off the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in a 1:54.49 time. The Logan women (Pabst, Makenzie Hawkins, Margret McFarland and Gammill) survived a comeback by Park City's Samantha Case in the anchor leg of the 400 freestyle relay and won with a 3:45.70 time.

Pabst, who won the 3A Swimmer of the Meet honor on the women's side, won both of her individual events. She walloped the 200 IM field by 13 seconds, winning in a class-record time of 2:10.48. The time eclipsed the 2004 standard of 2:10.93 set by Kelly McIntyre of Park City. Pabst picked up her second individual gold of the meet, taking the 100 backstroke in 58.05.
Pabst's time erased the former 3A meet record of 58.68 that Callie Payne of Rowland Hall set in 1998. Pabst will swim for Brigham Young University next season.

Case also took two first-place finishes. She notched her first win of the meet in the 50 freestyle, besting the field with a 25.02 time. Case also won the 100 butterfly, cracking the one-minute barrier with a 58.83.

Alex Carter of Judge Memorial captured both the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke titles with times of 56.69 and 1:09.66, respectively.

Gammill rounded out the double-event winners with wins in both the 200 (1:59.49) and 500 (5:29.01) freestyles.

Men's Individual Results
Connor Barton from Rowland Hall St. Mark's, the male 3A Swimmer of the Meet, topped the field in each of his two individual events. He started out by placing first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.24. Later on in the meet, Barton used a 23.66 opening split to capture the 100 butterfly in a time of 51.01.

Ogden's T.J. Treasure mined gold in each of his individual events. He grabbed the first-place spot in the 200 IM (2:04.00) as well as in the 100 freestyle (49.53).
