USMS Two-Mile Cable National Championship: Four USMS Records Fall

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia, July 12. OVER the weekend, United States Masters Swimming held its Two-Mile Cable National Championship in Charlottesville, Va. Four USMS standard were rewritten.

Abigail Nunn, 20, completed the two-mile race in 40:07.05 to crush her previous USMS women's 18-24 record of 40:39.67 set in 2009. Eney Jones, 49, won the women's 45-49 event with a 43:04.92 to down the USMS mark of 45:43.35 set by Danielle Ogier in 2001.

Christopher LaBianco, 39, put away any thoughts about resigning from the USA Swimming Foundation earlier in the week with a swift time of 39:59.99 in the men's 35-39 division to beat the USMS standard of 41:11.49 set by Robbie Allen in 2002. Larry Wood, 56, claimed the men's 55-59 crown with a time of 43:40.61, which lowered the USMS record of 44:35.55 set by Michael McCaffery in 2008.
