50 Breast – Women
As in the 100 Breast, records were fell with amazing regularity in the women's 50 Breast. Leading the way was Wenke Hanson, 30, who once again proved she is the "Queen of Breaststroke" in Masters swimming by posting the top time of 29.83, which eclipsed the existing record held by Rosemarie Seaman by just one one-hundreth of a second (29.84).

Other women to break USMS records included Caroline Krattli, 38, from San Diego Swim Masters, who dropped her own record in the 35-39 from 30.81 to 30.59.

In the 40-44 division, Dea Joslin, who also had a great 100 Breast, smoked the record of 32.36 which was also held by Rosemarie Seaman, by finishing in 31.19.

In the 65-69 age group Jayne Bruner from DC Masters went 39.12 to drop under the 40 second barrier and break Clara Walker's record of 40.79 set in 1993.

Finally, Sylvia Eisele of the Swim Florida Masters dropped the 70-74 record from 43.46 to 43.22.

50 Breast – Men

Only two records fell in the men's 50 breast. The fastest time of the day was set by Wally Dicks who fell one one-hundreth short of his record with a 25.98.

Peter Andersen of Illinois Masters became the first man over 55 to break 30 with a time of 29.57 – knocking a half second off the old mark of 30.18 held since 1989 by Manuel Sanguily.
