USA Water Polo to Host Golf Tournament in California

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., Aug. 22. IN an effort to raise money for national team programs, USA Water Polo is hosting its third annual golf tournament and silent auction at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club in Tustin, Calif., on Sept. 19, 2005.

For the last two years, the golf tournament has benefited the women's national team programs only, but because of the event's success, the men's program will also benefit from this year's tournament and auction.

"It's exciting because this is the first fundraiser we have done that benefits both the men's and women's programs," said Jennifer Ross, National Teams Program Manager. "It makes a big difference compared to the last two years."

The women's national water polo team is currently ranked second in the world after winning the silver medal at this year's World Championships in Montreal. This feat added to the long list of success by the women's team, made possible only with the help and funding from community support.

To register, go to www.usawaterpolo.org and click on EVENTS for more information. The registration deadline is Sept. 5.

Registration on the day of the event will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a putting contest at 10:15 a.m. The golf competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a shotgun start and scramble format. Throughout the day, there will also be a silent auction featuring a range of items from gift certificates to vacation packages.

A dinner and awards ceremony will be held at 5:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place teams, closest to the pin, longest drive and a hole-in-one, if achieved. There will also be an opportunity to win raffle prizes. For more information, contact Jennifer Ross at (562) 799-8506.
