USA Synchro Honors Myrna Hagedorn With Distinguished Service Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 21. USA Synchro recently recognized the late Myrna Hagedorn with the Lillian MacKellar Distinguished Service Award.

Hagedorn served many roles within the synchronized swimming community, including coaching stints at Rutgers University and with the Central Jersey Synchronettes and Colorado Springs Novas. She also served as Administrative Chair for the Rocky Mountain Association and the North Zone, where she was its secretary.

Hagedorn helped reorganize and update USA Synchro's technical rules, and she chaired the ad hoc Athletes' Program Committee.

“Myrna serves with a kind and generous spirit, promoting fair play and growth of our athletes and sport,” USA Synchro Past President Ginny Jasontek wrote in nominating Hagedorn.

Hagedorn, a member of the United States Synchronized Swimming Hall of Fame as a Contributor, is the first person to be honored with the Lillian MacKellar Award posthumously. Her husband, Al Hagedorn, accepted the award.

The Lillian MacKellar Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to an individual who has given unselfishly to the support of synchronized swimming with particular attention to the welfare of the athletes.
