ATLANTA, Georgia, December 3. FRANCE's Camille Muffat claimed her third freestyle crown in as many nights at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals with a win in the 800 free. On the heels of winning the 200 and 400 free the first two nights, Muffat clocked an 8:25.70 for the win.

Muffat's time bettered her previously 11th-ranked season best of 8:26.20, but did not put her in front of Jazmin Carlin's 10th-ranked 8:25.67. Wendy Trott picked up second-place honors in 8:28.40, while Leah Smith, 16, finished third in 8:34.74.

During the first night, Muffat won the women's 400 freestyle going away, while last night she held off a hard-charging Missy Franklin to capture the women's 200 freestyle gold medal. She is the first person to win three titles this weekend.

Savannah King earned fourth out of an earlier heat with an 8:40.90, while Alexa Kormarnycky wound up fifth in 8:42.89. Rachael Burnett (8:47.44), Chelsea Nauta (8:48.16), Megan Rankin (8:49.08), Danielle Valley (8:50.34) and Samantha Harding (8:50.86) completed the rest of the top 10 finishers.
