COLORADO SPRINGS, April 25. SKIP Gilbert, USA Swimming's Assistant Executive Director for Marketing and Business Development, will be leaving the organization at the end of May, according to three well-informed sources in Colorado Springs.
Gilbert, who has served in the post for three years and was responsible for bringing major corporate sponsors to USA Swimming, reportedly has accepted a similar position with the Arena Football League. Reportedly, Gilbert will be serving as Director of Sponsorship Sales and Business Development for the fast-growing professional league.
USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus praised Gilbert: "Skip Gilbert has done an extraordinary service for USA Swimming. He has built our Business Development Division into an effective business
enterprise that is now driving our marketing, promotional and communication activities.
"We brought all these functions in-house because we felt that USA Swimming would be best served by having people leading these functions who got up every day and brought their business expertise, creative energies
and passions into our office. Skip has helped to raise the level of our professionalism and helped to steer us in a more marketing-driven direction. He will be missed and we wish him well with his new challenges with the Arena Football League."
