USA Swimming Spring Championship Continue Through Second Day

EAST MEADOW, New York, March 28. WITH world records falling like flies down in Melbourne, Australia at the FINA World Championships, the USA Swimming Spring Championships continued through a second day of competition in East Meadow, N.Y.

Women's 800 freestyle
Alyssa Anderson completed the first event of the meet with a title-winning time of 8:38.63. Meanwhile, Corinne Showalter took second in 8:40.49, while Teresa Crippen placed third in 8:46.52.

Men's 1500 freestyle
Chad La Tourette claimed the men's distance free title in 15:13.17, while Troyden Prinsloo touched second in 15:14.48. Fran Crippen rounded out the top three in 15:29.79.

Women's 100 freestyle
Lauren Thies won the two-lap event in 55.93, while Carly Piper placed second in 56.82. Katie Riefenstahl picked up third in 57.17.

Men's 100 freestyle
Nick Brunelli captured the men's 100 free in 50.19, while Jonas Persson finished closely behind in 50.27. Dale Rogers claimed third in 50.42.

Women's 200 breaststroke
Keri Hehn cruised into the top podium spot with a time of 2:29.11. Michelle McKeehan earned second in 2:33.58, while Jessica Schmitt placed third in 2:34.05.

Men's 200 breaststroke
Neil Versfeld eased in with a top-time of 2:12.89, while Vanni Mangoni placed a distant second in 2:16.80. Andrew Bree closed out the top three in 2:17.62.

Teresa Crippen walked away with the 200 back title in 2:14.05. Katie Riefenstahl placed second in 2:15.58, while Elizabeth Pelton finished third in 2:15.83.

David Cromwell won in 1:59.32, while Doug Van Wie took second in 2:00.35. Matt Thompson wound up third in 2:01.38.
