USA Swimming Sectionals, Pleasant Prairie: Kaersten Meitz, Thomas Duvall Win On Distance Night

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisconsin, March 8. THE initial night of long course meter racing featured a pair of distance events at the USA Swimming Sectionals being held in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., this weekend.

Waukesha Express' Kaersten Meitz, 16, won the women's 800 free in 8:59.77, while teammate Dorothy Halmy, 14, took second in 9:03.46. Lake Forest's Rachel Stoehr picked up third in 9:12.04.

Thomas Duvall snared the men's 800 free triumph in 8:25.44. Peddie's William Rohde finished second in 8:39.19, while Phoenix Swimming's Brian Poon, 14, touched third in 8:40.55.

Tomorrow marks the first full day of preliminary/championship swimming in Wisconsin.
