USA Swimming Sectionals, Oxford: Neal Kennedy, David Mosko, Evan Ryser Set Listed Meet Records In Final Night

OXFORD, Ohio, July 23. THE final night of long course meter swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Oxford, Ohio featured a trio of listed meet records taking a tumble.

Club Wolverine's Margaret Kelly claimed the women's 200 IM title in 2:15.87. Boilermaker's Allison Smith placed second in 2:19.98 with Cincinnati Marlins' Sarah Tanner taking third in 2:21.14.

Club Wolverine's Neal Kennedy lowered the listed meet record in the men's 200 IM with a 2:04.24. That time cleared the 2:05.93 set by Eric Solis in March. Ohio State's Justin Farra (2:04.43) and Phil Seleskie (2:05.81) also eclipsed the former mark, while Cincinnati Marlins' Brian Howell placed fourth in 2:05.92 under the old time.

Greater Toledo's Jacy Dyer captured the women's 1500 free in 16:54.91, while M.E. Lyons' Ashley Miller finished second in 17:07.04 with Greater Toledo's Louise Smyth winding up third in 17:19.40.

Cincinnati Marlins' David Mosko crushed the listed meet record in the men's 800 free with an 8:12.83. The readout smashed the 8:18.02 set by Shane Lichtenberg in 2008. Boilermaker's Matthew Stewart took second in 8:17.86, while Lakeview's Clay Youngquist, 16, placed third in 8:17.97 – both under the previous standard.

Boilermaker's Ariel Martin cleared 57 seconds en route to a winning time of 56.97 in the women's 100 free. Club Wolverine's Leigh Cole touched second in 57.41 with Greater Toledo's Laura Heckroth claiming third in 57.64.

Club Wolverine went 1-2 in the final individual event of the meet. Evan Ryser (50.35) and Charles Houchin (50.49) both beat the listed meet record of 50.70 set by John Schmitt in 2008. Westerville's Kyle McNeilis completed the top three in 50.78.
