ORLANDO, Florida, March 16. THE final night of swimming came to a close at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Orlando with Ryan Lochte clearing a pair of meet records.
Chelsea Britt, 13, of Fort Lauderdale claimed another Olympic Trials cut with a winning time of 2:15.59 in the 200 fly as she knocked off Lindsay Woodward, who finished second in 2:15.76.
Megan Romano of Saint Petersburg touched out Ariann Vanderpool-Wallace of The Bolles School in the 100 free, 57.11 to 57.19, while Jamie Bohunicky of Gator Swim Club finished third in 57.37.
Another meet record fell, this time when Anne Poleska of Coral Springs dropped her own standard four years later with a 2:27.92 in the 200 breast. Her previous best time had been a 2:28.52.
Lauren Driscoll, 14, of Fort Lauderdale downed Romano in the 200 back, 2:17.10 to 2:17.37, while Amy Modglin of Swim Florida placed third in 2:17.50.
The Bolles took the 400 free relay when Aubrey Peacock, Emilie Hilsted, Victoria Richmond and Vanderpool-Wallace finished in 3:55.21.
Kaio Almeida dominated the 200 fly when he ripped off a time of 1:57.35. The performance shattered the 1980 meet record of 2:00.70 set by Craig Beardsley, and was only two seconds off Almeida's Brazilian record of 1:55.45 set last summer.
Ryan Lochte shined in the 100 free when he dropped the meet record by more than a second with a time of 49.04. On top of beating second-place finisher Bryan Lundquist (49.88), it cleared the standard of 50.43 set in 2000 by Gustavo Borges.
Luca Dematteis of Gator Swim Club swam nearly by himself in the 200 breast as he posted a one-second triumph over Vlad Polyakov, 2:13.75 to 2:15.18.
Lochte doubled up with another bruising meet record, this time in the 200 back. He clocked a time of 1:57.85 to smash the 2:00.24 set by Martin Zubero back in 1990.
The 400 free relay title went to Area Tallahassee as Alex Kennon, Kelley Wyman, Hunter Hinson and Joe Ziegler stopped the clock in 3:31.90.
