USA Swimming Sectionals, Mount Hood: Tucson Ford Shatters Men’s Relay Meet Record

MOUNT HOOD, Oregon, July 17. TUCSON Ford's team, featuring some of the top South African Olympians, smashed the meet record in the men's 400 freestyle relay at the USA Swimming Sectional held in Mount Hood.

The contingent of Roland Schoeman, Lyndon Ferns, Adrian Kirkpatrick and Ben Aaberg destroyed the meet record with a time of 3:21.29 in the men's race. Sun Devil Aquatics held the previous record with a 3:30.77 back in 2002.

Morgan Scroggy of Tualatin Hills won the women's 200 free in 2:02.35, while Ellie Doran of Tucson Ford and Missy Franklin, 13, of Colorado Stars tied for second with matching 2:04.04s.

Blake Worsley of Denver eased through the men's 200 free for an easy win in 1:51.69. David Bai of King finished second in 1:55.01. Quincy Lee of Tualatin earned third in 1:55.23.

Lauren Hall of Salmon Bay won a much closer affair in the women's 400 IM. She touched in 4:54.19 with Bridgette McNally, 15, of Denver taking second in 4:54.98. Katie Johnson, 17, of North Jeffco finished third in 4:55.42.

In another close contest, Jon Banker of Washington beat out Dan Nyaradi of Bend, 4:32.06 to 4:32.68, in the men's 400 IM. Logan Storie of Corvallis wrapped up third in 4:33.14.

In 400 free relay action, Sophie Allen, Madeline Rovira, Tara Demuth and Kristen Lahey of RallySport won the women's title in 3:53.36.
