USA Swimming Sectionals, Columbia: Kansas City Blazers Claim Distance Titles in Day One

COLUMBIA, Missouri, February 29. DURING the first night of swimming at the USA Swimming Sectional held in Columbia, the Kansas City Blazers picked up a pair of distance freestyle titles.

Kansas City Blazer Shannon Vreeland, 16, won the women's 800 freestyle event in 8:59.28, well ahead of second-place Rebecca Swank, 16, of Wichita, who touched in 9:13.27.

In the men's 800 freestyle, Eric Bonicelli of the Kansas City Blazers walked away with the title when he clocked an 8:31.16. Cody Reeb of Heat Swimming finished second in 8:35.46, while Vito Cammisano of the Kansas City Blazers took third in 8:36.60.
