USA Swimming Sectionals, Cleveland: Megan Detro, Laura Lindsay Down Listed Meet Records

CLEVELAND, Ohio, July 21. A pair of listed meet records fell during the initial day of long course meter swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ohio State's Megan Detro set a meet record in the women's 50 free with a time of 25.70 in the finale. That swim beat her prelim record of 25.79, which lowered the 2010 mark of 26.10 clocked by Margo Geer. Redhawk's Rebekka Westrick finished second in 26.56, while Greater Toledo's Carly Harter wound up third in 26.60.

Canton City's Laura Lindsay downed the meet record in the women's 200 breast with a 2:31.52. That swim beat the previous record of 2:32.64 held by Maija Roses. Bowling Green's Amanda Rom finished second in 2:37.61, while Ohio State's Jacqueline Brousseau pocketed third in 2:38.29.

Mason Manta Ray Austin Caldwell won the men's 50 free in 23.64. SwimStrongsville's Justin Hill (23.84) and Ohio State's Lincoln Fahrbach (23.86) rounded out the top three.

Ohio State's Kelly Baird won the women's 800 free in 8:51.41, while Greater Toledo's Rachel Johnson finished second in 8:55.08. Ohio State's Natalie Nichols wound up third in 8:55.82.

Dayton Raider Clifford Goertemiller topped the men's 1500 free in 16:09.65, while Lake Erie's Austin Quinn took second in 16:11.80. Lake Erie's Michael Gaudiani placed third in 16:18.92.

Pointe's Gabrielle DeLoof, 15, snatched the women's 200 back title in 2:14.73. Johnson earned her second silver of the night with a 2:16.45 for second, while Ohio State's Kristyn Fulcher placed third in 2:17.58.

Ohio State's Quinn Bartlett captured the men's 200 back in 2:04.57, while Spartan's Jacob Jarzen touched second in 2:04.97. Dayton Raider Brock Turner, 15, picked up third in 2:06.69.

Greater Toledo's Daniel Macdonald won the men's 200 breast in 2:20.42. Ohio State's David Stone placed second in 2:21.44, while Spartan's Nicholas Roberts earned third in 2:21.95.
