USA Swimming Announces Open Water Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, COlo., June 20. USA Swimming has announced the athletes who will be participating at the FINA Open Water World Championships in Barcelona,
July 13-19.

Briley Bergen (Jacksonville, Fla.), Patrick Dideum (Louisville, Colo.) and Dan DeMarco (Great Neck, NY) will represent Team USA in two events each.

Bergen will swim the 10K and 25K, with Dideum and DeMarco both swimming the 5K and 10K.

Megan Ryther (San Antonio, Tex.) and Beth Byrum
(Spring, Tex.) will represent America in the 5K.

Erica Rose (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) will swim the 10K with Tobie Smith (Austin, Tex.) swimming the 25K to round out the team.

For the men, Andy Bray (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Ryan Dvorak (Birmingham, Ala.) will swim the 25K to complete the men's squad.

Bergen, Dideum, DeMarco, Ryther, Rose and Bray all have represented the USA in Open Water competition before, while this is the first team for Byrum, Smith and Dvorak.

Rick Walker (Kankakee, Ill./Southern Illinois University) is the head coach for the Open Water team.
