USA Men’s Water Polo Drops 11-6 Contest to Serbia

ATHENS, Greece, February 23. THE USA Men's Senior National Team took on Serbia in the first game of the Samartzidis Cup held in Athens, Greece and lost 11-6. Tony Azevedo and Peter Varellas each tallied two goals apiece for Team USA while Merrill Moses halted five shots. The team improved upon a 14-6 loss it was dealt by the Serbians last week in Belgrade.

Jeff Powers and Adam Wright added the other goals for USA while Chay Lapin also saw time in net stopping two shots. USA went a dismal one for nine on man up advantages. Next up will be a match with Greece on Saturday February 23 at 8:30pm (10:30am pst) followed by a match on Sunday February 24 with Montenegro at 10:00am (midnight pst February 24) local time in Athens.
