US Water Polo: Humbert Injured; Suffers Temporary Paralysis

Budapest, Hungary – The US Team suffered a second straight defeat and finished fourth at the Unicum Cup. The loss came at the hands of Australia by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, the US team was jolted by an injury to star 2m man Chris Humbert. In a game against Germany, Humbert was kneed or kicked in the head and suffered temporary paralysis of his left side. Teammate Gavin Arroyo had to help Humbert to the side. He was diagnosed with a temporal paralysis caused by compression to his neck – a common football injury. The paralysis only lasted a few minutes and he returned to play against Hungary. A slight paralysis of his left arm returned during the Hungarian game and he did not play against Australia. He is scheduled to have a neurological exam upon his return to California.
