200 butterfly favorite and World Championships silver medalist Cammile Adams entered this morning with the world’s 19th best time in 2:08.21. She cruised through the first 100 meters and came home appearing to take the top seed with a 2:08.29.

After the finish, it was announced that she was disqualified. After a protest, and a review of video evidence that DQ was quickly over turned. Officials had thought she pushed off her turn onto her back.

Georgia Bulldawg Hali Flickinger led the first circle seeded heat through the halfway mark. The World University Games bronze medalist touched in 2:09.20 to win her heat and officially take the second seed.

Sixteen year old Cassidy Bayer was out strong and hung on for second in that heat. She now moves up to the third overall seed in 2:09.29.

A day removed from her 100 butterfly Olympic berth Kelsi Worrell posted a 2:09.40 this morning for the fourth spot.

Hannah Saiz touched in 2:10.07 and will return fifth. Lauren Case had a nice drop for a sixth seed of 2:10.36. Taylor Pike and Sarah Gibson tied for the seventh spot in 2:10.84.

Jen Marrkand (2:11.26) and Christina Bechtel (2:11.41) take the ninth and tenth spots. Ruby Martin dropped a full second to touch in 2:11.62 for the eleventh seed.

Kate Mills (2:11.89), Noelle Tarazona (2:11.94), Maddie Wright (2:12.31) finished 12th through 14th.

World Championships finalist Katie McLaughlin continued her comeback from a neck injury with a 15th seeded 2:12.41.

Megan Kingsley swam through her knee injury for the 16th spot in 2:12.54.

The official observed that she was past vertical toward her back leaving a wall in her race. (Essentially not being enough toward her stomach when her feet left the wall).

Is it possible? I mean, i thought they don’t turn decisions by video evidence on the international level.
