UNC-Wilmington vs. Emory

ATLANTA, Georgia, October 30. UNCW fashioned its third straight swimming and diving meet sweep on Saturday as the Seahawks topped Emory 173-127 in the women's meet and 176.5-123.5 in the men's dual meet at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

The Seahawk women improved to 6-0 with the non-conference win while the men ran their mark to 3-2 with their third straight win. It was the season opening meet for Emory.

"We had a very good day on both sides," said UNCW Head Coach Dave Allen. "We knew that Emory would be fired up for today's meet and we able to stay focused and concentrated on the task at hand. We've been getting better each meet and that's what we're hoping for."

Sophomore Carly Tanner and junior Hilary Fritz were multiple event winners for the Seahawks. Tanner won both Breaststroke events, swimming 1:04.27 in the 100 and 2:22.02 in the 200. Fritz, meanwhile, won both backstroke events. She swam 57.75 in the 100 and later posted a time winning time of 2:03.47.

Tanner also swam legs on the winning 200 Medley (1:45.36) and 400 Free (3:30.18) relays. Also swimming legs on both of those relays were juniors Anna Munger and Mattie Riley. Munger added a win in the 100 Free (52.30). Both tied for first-place in the 50 Free, touching the wall at 23.90.

For the men it was the combination of sophomore Stephen Conrad and junior Alex Aguilar leading the way for the Seahawks.

Conrad swam the third leg of the winning 200 Medley and 400 Free Relays. Aguilar swam the anchor leg of the 200 Medley and the leadoff leg of the 400 Free.

Both also won individual events with Conrad swimming an impressive 49.79 seconds in the 100 Butterfly while Aguilar posted a time of 21.17 in the 50 Free.

Senior Kobi Salinas won both the 1 and 3-meter boards for the second time this season. Salinas scored 341.18 points in the 3-meter win and later added top honors in the 1-meter with 340.5 points.

Other event winner for UNCW were Scott Royal (1000 Free), Libby Mayock (200 Free), Brandon Hicks (200 Fly), Michael Williams (46.71), Gavin Spake (500 Free) and Alden Dyer (2:09.75).

The Seahawks return to Colonial Athletic Association action on Nov. 6-7, when they host Towson, George Mason and Delaware.
