UCLA Upsets Arizona!

In this Pac-10 women’s dual meet, UCLA surprised Arizona 150-148. Led by Keiko Price’s wins in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle (23.93 and 51.54 respectively) and Lindsay Etter’s wins in the 100 and 200 yard breastroke (1:04.24 and 2:17.94 respectively), the Bruins stunned a talented Wildcat squad featuring 1996 Olympic gold medalist Trina Jackson, 1992 Olympic gold medalist Ashley Tappin, 1996 Summer National Champion Liesl Kolbisen, and former National High School record holder in the 100 yard backstroke Denali Knapp.

Arizona had the meet won, but their 200 yard freestyle relay (“B” team) disqualified in the meet’s final event, thus handing the victory to UCLA.

Nevertheless, look for Arizona to challenge Stanford and USC come Pac-10 and NCAA Championships, when it counts.
