IRVINE, California, August 6. SWIMATLANTA's Kathleen Hersey dominated the entire race in the women's 200 fly at the U.S. Long Course Nationals en route to a swift time. Hersey turned in a 2:07.00 to move into second in the world, behind only top-ranked Jiao Liuyang's 2:05.46 from the Chinese Nationals held in April. Hersey hit her taper perfectly for this event, moving into the top 25 with her prelim time of 2:09.45 before skyrocketing up the rankings with her outing this evening.

Germantown's Teresa Crippen made a bit of a run at Hersey towards the end of the race, but clearly could not close the distance with a second-place 2:07.89. She jumped into eighth in the world with that effort, up from her 17th-ranked prelim time of 2:09.15.

FAST's Mary Mohler, the American record holder with a 2:04.14 from last year, moved into third with a final surge to post a 2:08.91. New York Athletics' Kim Vandenburg placed fourth in 2:09.08, while 15-year-old youngster Jasmine Tosky of Palo Alto Stanford finished fifth in 2:10.17.

KING's Andie Taylor (2:11.72), NOVA of Virginia's Rachel Naurath (2:11.80) and North Coast's Tanya Krisman (2:14.04) comprised the rest of the finale.

Trojan's Lyndsay De Paul turned in a 2:09.30 to claim the B final. She's been faster this year with a 2:08.44 that ranked ninth heading into this evening.
