U.S. Long Course Nationals: Elizabeth Beisel Defends 200 Back Title – Coverage Sponsored by TYR

IRVINE, California, August 6. BLUEFISH's Elizabeth Beisel won the women's 200 back by more than a second to defend her title from 2009.

Beisel turned in a swift 2:08.50 for the win to move into sixth in the world. Elizabeth Simmonds (2:06.79), Belinda Hocking (2:07.89), Shiho Sakai (2:07.99), Meagan Nay (2:08.02) and Emily Seebohm (2:08.19) are the five swimmers ahead of her in the rankings.

Colorado Stars' Missy Franklin, 15, continued a strong breakout meet with a second-place 2:09.74. She moved to 14th in the world rankings with the performance. Athens Bulldog Morgan Scroggy placed third in 2:10.87 to improve upon her previously 25th-ranked season best of 2:11.07.

NBAC's Elizabeth Pelton (2:11.03), Germantown's Teresa Crippen (2:11.85), Crow Canyon's Madison White (2:12.82), Penn State's Amy Modglin (2:14.01) and Indiana's Ashley Jones (2:15.87) posted the rest of the championship final finishes.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin's Maggie Meyer cruised into the B final title with a time of 2:13.10.
