U.S. Earns Spot in Super Final of FINA Men’s Water Polo World League 2010

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 10. THE team of USA qualified for the Super Final of the FINA Men's Water Polo World League 2010, after winning the four games of the preliminary round of the Americas, organised from May 5-9 in Los Alamitos (USA). Playing against Brazil and Venezuela, the fourth ranked team at the 2009 FINA World Championships did not find special difficulties to triumph in the four matches played during the tournament.

Brazil was second with two victories and two losses, while Venezuela was defeated in all the four games it contested during the competition.

The team of USA will now join the four European squads – Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Spain – qualified for the Super Final, taking place from July 13-18 in Nis (SRB). The remaining three teams playing the decisive tournament will come from the Asia-Oceania preliminary round (to be played between May 19-30 in Osaka, Japan, and Tianjin, China – two teams to qualify) and the African preliminary tournament (to be played from June 17-20 in Tunis, Tunisia – one team to qualify).
