GOLD COAST, Australia, August 22. BELIEVING that Kosuke Hagino might not have enough gas to keep his substantial lead at the finish of the 400 IM, Tyler Clary found the motivation to put together a strong freestyle leg and win a silver medal at the Pan Pacific championships. In this video interview, he discusses the race and how the work he’s put in these past few months paid off.

If you could remove your biases on Tyler for whatever reason, you might have better projections. Just plain wrong and wrong.

If anything, we have a bit of a bias towards Tyler. He’s one of the people that will appear on the Morning Swim Show at the drop of a hat, especially if we’ve had another guest fall through. We’ve actually given a decent amount of attention to Tyler’s outside-of-the-pool ventures with DJing and NASCAR, and not every swimmer gets that sort of extra exposure with us.

Jeff not picking Tyler on the 400 IM podium wasn’t personal, and it is probably the great relationship we have with Tyler that led to there being a bit of a shock that Jeff didn’t predict him there.

Jeff is glad Tyler proved him wrong and made the podium. But, he just didn’t see it going that way when he was writing his predictions.

If so then why haven’t I seen any positive news about Tyler going into Nationals or Pan Pacs. He won a gold medal in London and has been very consistent throughout the years. I come on your site and I see Jeff picks against him, despite his showing at Nationals and his credentials. He has always been a contender. At least that’s what I thought. He’s one of the few swimmers that I would categorize as a great swim ambassador and USA Swimming does such a horrible job even promoting him. You guys chose to promote the popular choice.

Just sucks to see that. My kids enjoy coming to your site but after reading that they were upset as well as I. I read all of your magazines and I have yet to see Tyler in there, since 2012. I can probably go back further. It just leaves a little bit of distrust with Swimming World that’s all. If you say you are then so be it. But trust I’m not the only swim family or fan that has this issue.
