Two Asian Open Water Swims Canceled Due to SARS

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, April 22. TWO FINA open water swims scheduled to be held in Asia in June have been canceled because of the outbreak of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus, a spokesman for the International Swimming Federation (FINA) said today.

Fears over the spread of SARS prompted FINA to cancel the Hong Kong Swimming Marathon on June 8 and the Hongfeng Lake Swimming Marathon, due to be held near Ginzheng City in China on June 15.
