Tucson High School Swim Coach Bruce Rock Fired After Child Porn Arrest

TUCSON, Arizona, September 28. TUCSON Mountain View High School girls swimming head coach Bruce Rock, 49, has been fired from his position with Mountain View following an arrest for allegedly being involved in uploading child porn to the Internet.

Earlier this week, Tucson police arrested Rock at his home after acquiring a search warrant following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Rock is facing five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Rock also is the head coach of the Pima Aquatic Club, a position he took over in 2007. During his time at PAC, he transitioned it from a YMCA county league team to a USA Swimming club competing at the state and junior national level.

Mountain View High School principal Patricia Cardigan informed high school parents about the termination via a letter:

To the Parents of Mountain View High School:

Because we value the importance of communicating with our parents, I am writing you regarding the arrest of Bruce Rock, the Girls Swim Coach at Mountain View. The media is reporting that Mr. Rock was arrested for allegedly uploading child pornography to a social media website.

Please know that we take this situation extremely seriously. I want to assure you that there is no indication that the charges leading to Mr. Rock’s arrest involve a MUSD student or Mountain View High School. I recognize that you may have questions and may also feel a range of emotions surrounding this. However, we are limited in the information that may be publicly disclosed.

We will be terminating Mr. Rock’s services immediately, and he will not be returning to Mountain View High School. Mr. Justin Madison will be assuming the duties as the head girls swim coach.

Mr. Garelick and I met with the swim team this morning to provide information and address concerns. Counselors are available to provide support for the students as well. The staff at Mountain View High School is committed to providing the best educational experience for our students. I want to thank you for your continued support of our great school.

Sincerely,

Patricia Cadigan

Principal
