KNOXVILLE–Trey Freeman broke age group legend Chas Morton’s Southeastern 200 fly swim record from 1985 at today’s SES Champs. Freeman, 14, of The Baylor School, posted a time of 1:50.62 to replace Morton’s record.

Morton was a successful age group swimmer in the early to mid-eighties. His records have spanned years and withstood some of today’s greatest swimmers, including Michael Phelps.
A successful butterflyer and IMer, Morton continues to hold three age group records today: 10 & under 200 IM (2:12.29, 1982), 11-12 100 fly (51.85, 1984) and 11-12 200 IM (1:56.61, 1984).
Morton continued swimming throughout high school and college although without as noticeable of success as his younger years. Despite his successful career Morton never went on to swim on the national or Olympic teams.
