Toledo Women Shoot Down Lewis, 145-57

TOLEDO, Ohio, October 14. THE University of Toledo swimming and diving team competed in their first meet of the 2006-07 season by defeating Lewis University 145-57.

"Christa Salerno and Brie Henning set the tone for the meet and both swam very well," said Head Coach Lars Jorgensen. Salerno finished first in the 400 IM with at time of 4:41.76 and also swam the third leg of the first place 400 freestyle relay. Henning won the 50 freestyle swimming it in 24.43.

Also winning first for the Rockets were Liz Hinkleman in the 1,000 freestyle 11:04.18, Sara Stech in the 150 freestyle 1:27.03 and 150 backstroke 1:36.59, Shannon Hazelton in the 150 butterfly 1:35.57 and 150 breaststroke 1:49.92, and winning her first event as a Rocket Ashley Cusack in the 500 freestyle 5:17.77.

UT won the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Brie Henning, Katie Childers, Christa Salerno and Cara Frohman 3:48.59 but fell short to Lewis in the 400 medley relay.

"Overall, I am pleased but we have a long way to go before we are where we want to be," said Jorgensen.
