Toledo vs. Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, January 25. ALISHA Yee and newcomer Sarah Burston each swam to a first place finish as Bowling Green fell to the rival Rockets, 212-85 in the last meet of the year at Cooper Pool. In addition, the swimming and diving Falcons combined for seven second place finishes and four third place nods.

Yee picked up yet another individual win, finishing the 100 back in 57.96. This gives her a team-leading 15 solo wins on the year. This is Yee's fifth win in the 100 back in duel meet competition. The junior also swam to two runner-up finishes against the Rockets, in the 200 back and 100 fly.

Freshman Sarah Burston swam to her first victory as a Falcon as she posted a time of 2:10.94 in the 200 fly. Senior Michael Carriaga took second in the same event, finishing in 212.14.

Fellow freshman Carrie Enright contributed two second place times and Sami Jordan picked up two third place finishes for the Orange and Brown. Enright was runner-up in the 100 free and tied Toledo's Brittany Dominique for second in the 50 free. Jordan placed in the top three in the 100 and 200 back.

Seniors Christina Vaca and Kim Albin picked up a third place spot each, to round out the Falcon's top three finishes.

In addition, BGSU finished second in both relays. Yee, Carriaga, Meg Richardson, and Frankie Houck swam the 200 IM relay in 1:48.36, good enough for the runner-up spot. Then in the last event of the night, the Falcons narrowly missed the victory as Enright, Richardson, Jordan, and senior Jen Wright finished in a time of 3:37.86, just behind Toledo's time of 3:37.09.

The swimming and diving Falcons will look to rebound next Saturday (Feb. 2) as they travel to Buffalo for their last MAC duel meet of the year. The contest is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
