Toledo v. Miami (Ohio)

OXFORD, Ohio. November 7. MIAMI University's women's swimming and diving team won 13 of the 16 events and defeated Toledo by a score of 196-102 at the Nixon Aquatic Center. The RedHawks are now 5-1 in dual meet competition, including a 3-0 mark against Mid-American Conference competition.

Seniors Allison Stevens and Malarie Schmidt won three events each to lead the way for the RedHawks. Stevens dominated the freestyle events, winning the 50-, 100- and 200-yard races. Schmidt was equally impressive, taking the 100-yard backstroke, the 200 individual medley and leading off the winning 400 medley relay team.

Two-event winners included Miami's Kelly Anagnos who won both the one- and three-meter diving events, Allison Way who took the 100 butterfly and was a member of the 400 medley relay team, and Megan Brunn who captured the 200 breaststroke and swam on the 400 medley relay unit.

Winning single events were Kelsey Vehr in the 100 breaststroke, Kasey Carpenter in the 200 backstroke, Chelsey Bruington in the 500 free, and Alyson Schmidt who anchored the 400 medley relay team.

"Our girls did a great job tonight against a very good Toledo squad," said head coach Dave Jennings. "We took control early and never let up. Especially impressive tonight were Allison Way, all of our divers, and all of our breaststrokers."
