Tiger Corey Lynn Gerlach Continues to Roll at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – NEWCOMER Corey Lynn Gerlach continued to turn heads at
the Gabrielsen Natatorium Saturday afternoon as the AU diver took the
3-meter title with a total of 327.70. Steven Segerlin posted another
second place performance at the Georgia Diving Invitational and
Shootout, today, on the 1-meter.

Gerlach came back strong in the 3-meter final to improve from
Friday's second place finish on 1-meter. Her score today, 327.70,
was just 5.60 points off her personal best mark set against Alabama on
November where she also won the title. This marks Gerlach's second
win at the 3-meter level and her fifth straight Zone B qualifier. She
will move on to the 5:30 p.m. CT shootout this evening, along with
Lynnsey Segraves and Segerlin. Teammate Segraves looked in position to
take the second spot on 3-meter, but fell just short on her last dive
and ended up fourth (286.20).

"Corey and Lynnsey both did a great job," head diving coach Jeff
Shaffer said. "Corey was close to her personal best to win the event
and Lynnsey was fourth. With a little bit stronger last dive, it would
have been close to the girls finishing one, two. Lynnsey made some
corrections on her last dive while we were here which are really going
to help her during the championship portion of the season."

On the men's side, Georgia's Chris Colwill scored just 24.4 points
more than Tiger Segerlin to take the win on 1-meter. Segerlin turned in
a forty point bettered score in the final's (326.10) to secure his
second straight runner up finish of the competition. Newcomer Scott
Morgan nearly qualified for the finals, falling just 11 points short to
finish 15th overall (241.25).

"Steve finished second on the 1-meter and had a much improved
final's performance as he scored 40 points higher," Shaffer said.
"Scott was just 11 points from qualifying for the final's, so he
continues to show improvement and will just to work a little on his form
to improve upon his scores."
