Tickets for Beijing Olympics will be Affordable

BEIJING, China, November 29. ACCORDING to a report by The Associated Press, ticket prices for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be wide-ranging, running from just under $4 to more than $600 for top-end seats at the opening ceremony. More than seven million tickets will be available, with more than half of those tickets priced at $12.75 or cheaper. That was the news in a statement by the Beijing Organizing Committee.

The most expensive tickets will be for the opening ceremony and closing-ceremony tickets will span $19 to $382. The cheapest ticket for the opening ceremony will be $25. Tickets will go for 30% of what they went for at the Athens Olympics in 2004. While the lowest single-sport ticket is expected to be $3.82, the most expensive will be $127.50.

The Beijing Olympic Committee has indicated that Chinese students will be presented the chance to purchase tickets and the public will have access to at least 50% of all tickets.
