The Morning Swim Show: Lara Jackson Talks About New American Record, Defending NCAA Title and Riding Horses

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 10. LARA Jackson, the new American record holder in the 50-yard freestyle, returns to The Morning Swim Show to talk about her fast swims from last weekend.

Jackson, a senior at the University of Arizona, tells host Peter Busch that she wasn't certain she could break Natalie Coughlin's record, but had been working hard to swim faster since winning the title at last spring's NCAA championships. She said she isn't able to "hold back" in prelims, which explains why she first broke the record in prelims. She also talks about her chances to repeat in the 50 free next year.

"Never underestimate anyone," Jackson said of other competitors. "I never like to assume anything … because you get lazy."
