The Morning Swim Show: Guo Jingjing, Star Chinese Diver, Reportedly Off Olympic Team; Glenn Mills Talks About 1980 Olympic Boycott

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 22. THE Thursday edition of The Morning Swim Show talks to a member of the 1980 USA Olympic swim team about the implications the boycotted Games had on his swimming career and his life.

Host Peter Busch starts the show by talking about the reports that star Chinese diver Guo Jingjing might be off the Olympic team because she is pregnant. Jingjing is a two-time reigning Olympic champion.

The rest of the show deals with speculation regarding a possible American boycott of the Beijing Olympics. Glenn Mills, a member of the 1980 American swim team that was unable to attend the Moscow Games, talks about the effect being on that team has on his life today. He said people today aren't fully aware of what the 1980 boycott was, and usually he has to explain it in detail.

Mills also talks about his involvement in a new book that chronicles the boycott and also discusses the present talk of a boycott and how it will impact the athletes today.
