The Morning Swim Show, Feb. 1, 2010: ASCA’s John Leonard on Combined NCAA Division I Championships

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 1. THE concept of a combined men's and women's NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championship event is about to be put to a vote. On this edition of the Morning Swim Show, the president of the American Swim Coaches Association, John Leonard, says college coaches will be contacted this week about the idea. ASCA hopes that coaches will vote on the idea by May, with the hopes of having a combined event by 2012.

Host Peter Busch presses Leonard on some of the objections to the concept, from having a longer meet to the potential disadvantage for schools that do not have a men's and women's team.
