The Morning Swim Show: David Marsh on Helping Mexico Become a Swimming Power; Matt Thompson on College Recruiting and What Makes Him Fast

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 23. TOP high school recruit Matt Thompson and renowned coach David Marsh highlight Thursday's edition of The Morning Swim Show.

Marsh, who led the Auburn Tigers to 12 NCAA titles, is now the head coach at MAC-Carolina. Marsh came to the Nelson Vargas coaches clinic in Mexico City recently to help Mexico enter the fray of top flight countries that dominate the sport. The key elements Marsh said he hoped to teach in Mexico are technical details such as teaching turns and most important, how coaches can be quality people that swimmers want to work with.

Thompson, a senior at Jesuit High in Dallas, joins the show to talk about the process of being recruited by some of the top schools in the country. He said his success in swimming has come largely from the hard work and competitive attitude he experiences every day with the Dallas Mustangs swim team. He said the key to finding the right school was keeping an open mind and knowing which one fit on all levels, not just the swimming portion.
