TEXAS WINS 200 MEDLEY RELAY

Texas increased its lead in the team race with a triumph in the 200 medley relay after an exceedingly close battle with Arizona, Tennessee and Auburn. Junior Matt Ulrickson, senior Russell Chozick, junior Nate Dusing and senior Bryan Jones set a new American record of 1:35.66, breaking the 1:35.86 mark the team had set in the morning. Ulrickson took the lead on the first 50, with it switching several times before Dusing regained the advantage and Jones brought it home.
Arizona was second in 1:35.87, Tennessee was third in 1:35.93 and defending champion Auburn was fourth in 1:36.30. Stanford was disqualified, so Cal was fifth in 1:37.24, Minnesota was sixth in 1:37.27 and North Carolina State was seventh in 1:38.24. Arizona State won the consolation final in 1:37.97.
