Texas vs. Southern Methodist

DALLAS, Texas, November 11. FRIDAY night in Dallas the No. 2 Texas Men’s Swimming and Diving team defeated SMU, 154-127, at the Perkins Natatorium .

Junior Nick D’Innocenzo led the charge by winning the 100 breaststroke (56.99) and the 200 IM (1:51.99).

Fresh off his Big 12 Swimmer of the Week honors, Neil Caskey took first in each of his two events. He won the 100-yard butterfly (48.56) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.56).

Jackson Wilcox only had one event but he made the most of it with a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. He had over a six-second lead over the second-place finisher.

A pair of freshmen also came out with victories on the day. Clay Youngquist dominated the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.31, seven seconds better than the next best competitor. Kip Darmody took first in the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.32).

Matt Cooper continued to roll in diving as he won the one-meter competition with a score of 395.25.

The Longhorns’ other win on the day came from Patrick Murphy in the 500-yard freestyle as the clocked a time of 4:35.70 for the victory.

Texas will be off the remainder of the month and will host its next competition Dec. 1-3 with the Texas Invitational taking place in Austin.
