Texas Senior Circuit, Austin: Susana Escobar, Matt Barber Win Distance Events

AUSTIN, Texas, June 11. THE first night of long course meter swimming at the Texas Senior Circuit meet held in Austin featured distance freestyle competition.

Longhorn Susana Escobar captured the women's 1500 free in 17:09.82, while 15-year-old teammate Koryn Ternes placed second in 17:18.50. Claire Singley of the Nadadores wound up third in 17:22.24.

Blue Tide's Matt Barber clinched the men's 800 free in 8:34.68, while The Woodlands' Sean Murphy touched second in 8:36.83. Plano's Kyle McIntee took third in 8:42.32.

All eyes will be on Dara Torres tomorrow as she contests the women's 50 free. During the last stop of the Texas Senior Circuit in College Station, Torres twice downed the American record in the women's 50 fly. She'll be gunning for the national mark in the sprint free event.
