Texas 5A High School State Championships

AUSTIN, Texas, March 5. AT the Texas 5A High School State Championships, Humble Kingwood and The Woodlands walked away with state titles. On the girls’ side, Humble Kingwood won the state title with 167 points followed by San Antonio Churchill (146) and Southlake Carroll (138). The Woodlands boys tallied 225 points for first while Southlake Carroll took second (216) and Humble Kingwood placed third (201.50).

Girls Results
San Antonio Churchill’s Kim Pablin, Ashley Blanchette, Aurelia O’Keefe, and Lily Moldenhauer won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.31.

Moldenhauer was a dual event winner in the 100 butterfly (53.25) and the 100 backstroke (53.45).

Leah Pfitzer, Michelle Gean, Madeline Hazle, and Jamie Friderichs (Humble Kingwood) won the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.71).

Kassidy Cook (The Woodlands) won the diving competition (549.60). Spring’s Kaylea Arnett and Keller’s Callan Buck followed with scores of 475.75 and 471.95, respectively.

Other first-place finishers include Julia Anderson (Fort Worth Paschal) in the 200 freestyle (1:46.55), Kelsey Leneave (The Woodlands) in the 200 IM (2:01.48), Maddie Locus (Fort Bend Dulles) in the 50 freestyle (23.18), Cammile Adams (Houston Cypress Woods) in the 500 freestyle (4:47.27), and Catherine Wagner (Houston Memorial) in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.14).

Samantha Tucker (Austin Westlake) won the 100 freestyle in 49.83. She teamed up with Mackenzie Franklin, Ruthie Norval and Maddie Edwards for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:26.96).

Boys Results
Humble Kingwood’s Ryan Glander, Joseph Bergmeister, Matthew Barber, and Jordan Jones won the 200 medley relay in 1:32.32. Barber was a dual event winner in the 200 (1:37.30) and 500 (4:22.08) freestyles.

Gray Umbach (Conroe Woodlands College Park) had individual wins in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. He clocked times of 1:47.59 and 48.08, respectively.

El Paso Coronado’s Jake Hartley won the 50 (20.22) and 100 (44.83) freestyles.

Cannon Clifton, Knox Hitt, Chad Sorensen, and Tripp Cooper (The Woodlands) won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.41.

Hayden Jones (Klein) won the diving competition (512.35) followed by Alex Fincher (Keller) (510.85) and Bryce Klein (Southlake Carroll) (486.30).

Paul Leonhardt, Mitchell Foster, Seth Russell, and Seth Stubblefield (Plano) closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:02.37).
